About
Hello! I am the 6th grade ELA teacher for Barry School in Kansas City, MO. After getting hired mid-year in January 2018, Barry has been the place for me. I wouldn't necessarily call it fate, but it was an opportunity that fell in my lap at the most convenient time. I can't help but be thankful for this amazing staff and students! I expected to have a less than perfect time being a new teacher, but I didn't expect to have such a supportive staff. I am so lucky!

I graduated from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and French Minor in December of 2017. I have taught ELA at Lafayette High School in the St. Joseph area and at Platte County High School in Platte City, MO during that program. Recently, I have completed the Prairie Lands Writing Project (PLWP). This is a writing institute specifically for teachers helping teachers. It was a groundbreaking experience and if given the chance, I would do it again!
I am originally from Ottumwa, IA. My parents still live there, and in conversations, when I say "home," I still mean Ottumwa. It is a bad habit to break. I'm still getting used to living in Missouri even though I have been living here for 4 years now. I didn't grow up here. I don't know the secret handshakes!
I live with my boyfriend of 6 years. Currently, we have no fur babies, actual babies, or a ring. We have plenty of time.
Being a young 23 and fresh out of college eager to start teaching, my mindset is all about my students. I can't build my life without building my classroom first. It sounds backwards. I know.
I love teaching and I can't bare to think of doing anything else.
This is for my students: the past, present, and future.
I love you all.
